YogaIn Greek myth the Chimaera is a fire-breathing creature with a lion's head, a goat's head rising from its back and a tail ending in a serpent. In the legend it terrorises Lycia until the hero Bellerophon defeats it, riding the winged horse Pegasus.
The legend is tied to Yanartaş, the flames that have burned for thousands of years on the slope above Çıralı, fed by gas seeping from the ground. The hotel's name comes from here: Kimera is the Turkish form of Chimaera.
Kimera & Çıralı
Kimera is the Turkish spelling of Chimaera, the fire-breathing creature of Greek myth. The slope where the legend is set rises above Çıralı; at the mouth of the valley lie the ruins of Olympos along their stream, and a beach where loggerhead turtles nest.
